As the Philippine National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, famous words said, "The youths are the hope of the motherland. "No wonder that even during their times, youth are already making history for the Philippines up until now. At a young age, they showed their excellence, integrity, and love for the country.


In celebration for the Philippine Heritage Month, the Art of Blade lists the top 8 Filipino History Makers whose actions deserve to be remembered. Remember their names and their achievements, so that the next time someone asks, you'll be ready.



Graciano Lopez Jaena

He was 32 when he founded the newspaper "La Solidaridad" in Madrid. He endured hunger and disease and showed the Spanish people the aspirations of the Indios in their colony, Las Islas Filipinas.


Isabelo Delos Reyes

He was 25 when he started writing in Ilocano and Spanish against abuses of the colonizers. He was barely 30 when thrown to the dungeons in Madrid for inciting fellow Ilocanos to speak out against oppressors.


Jose Rizal

He finished his second novel "El Filibusterismo" in 1891 when he was 30. His writings caused his exile to Dapitan the following year, Blamed for the spark of the Revolution in 1896, he was martyred that same year.


Andres Bonifacio

Founded the Katipunan when he was 29.


Emilio Jacinto

When the Revolution began he was only 21. The youth did not deter Jacinto. 


Gregoria de Jesus

She was only 22 when she became Bonifacio's widow. Courageously she fought on for independence.


Emilio Aguinaldo

He was the victorious general of the Revolution at age 27. He founded the first Republic in Asia on June 12, 1898, three months after turning 29.


Gregorio Del Pilar

He became a general of the Katipunan at age 21. He had just turned 24 when he fought his last battle as Aguinaldo's rearguard at Tirad Pass, 1899.
